Fundraising tips - Get the most out of your workplace giving

There are many good reasons for your workplace to get involved in Work with Nature week. It’s an opportunity for you and your colleagues to raise money for a great cause.

Work with Nature week is also a great team building exercise and you can get the whole workplace involved. Make it fun by dressing in green, encourage walking meetings, have your team meeting outside at a park or bring nature indoors by decorating your office foyer and meeting rooms with lots of beautiful green plants.

Here are some quick hints and ideas for raising money at your workplace:

  • Wear green. Encourage everyone to wear something green on your Work with Nature day. Prior to the day, send out regular reminders. Organise a donation box in a prominent position of the office.

  • Team up with an existing event. Organise your fundraising activities to take advantage of an event that is already happening, such as your work team meeting, an office celebration or morning tea, but then plan it for outdoors.

  • Decorate the office green. Use the posters to decorate your office or add a personal touch with some green native plants and outside bird sounds. You can download posters to print from our Resources section.

  • Compete to raise funds. Hold competitions with your friends or work colleagues to see who can raise the most money.

  • Dollar-for-dollar matching.  Ask your employer to support your fundraising efforts by matching the funds you raise. You can download a dollar matching template from our Resources section.

  • Hold a green event. Why not organise your very own Work with Nature event, invite a guest speaker, auction, raffle or competition?
